The Year 9 Students busy participating in a workshop, where tradespeople assisted them to feel comfortable using tools, and learning the skills involved in measuring, cutting and assembling wooden products. Each tool was explained, with correct safe use shown, supervised and overseen to above trade standards. The workshop focussed on potential trades careers, gaining tool skills and engaging with people.
Year 9 & 10 STEM Mechanics students designed and constructed an electric vehicle to compete in this year’s Perth Electric Vehicle Challenge, which was held last Saturday evening at the Wanneroo Kart Track.
Reaching speeds of over 40km/h, the students completed as many laps as possible in a 1 hour timed event, competing against other schools from across the state.
Their hard work and expertise paid off in their very first effort, with the result of 2nd place in the Junior Category.
We’re all very much looking forward to the competition in 2023!
Students participated in lots of different activities throughout the day such as; painting, weaving, cooking damper over the fire pit, storybook, rainbow serpent crafts, sports games, painting totem animals, banner creation, rain sticks and boomerangs. Delicious cupcakes were on offer at recess for students and staff. We welcomed the the Yued Rangers, Caleb & Kane in joining us along with Yued Elder Mr Charles Shaw. It was a perfect day, enjoyed by all.
